- #108 SAM HOUSTON (+) over Western Kentucky at 8 PM EST
Off back-to-back SU and ATS road losses to a couple of heavyweights in Liberty and Texas Tech, Sam Houston will return home to Bowers Stadium for its CUSA home opener and rock Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers enter this conference battle off a 21-point CUSA home win over the Bears and this will prove to be a very difficult spot for head coach Tyson Helton and his crew.
Considering the Kats have inked an ugly 0-3 SU and ATS record in this series over the past three seasons, triple revenge motivation will certainly have skipper Phil Longo and his players extremely focused on the task at hand. It will certainly help that this game is being played in Huntsville, Texas. At home, Sam Houston owns a respectable 9-6 SU and 8-5 ATS record in its last 15 games including a profitable 8-2 ATS provided the Kats are not going into revenge. Also, Conference USA single-digit home dogs that are lined up against an opponent that carries a team won/loss percentage less than .500 hold a sensational 69-32-4 ATS record in their last 105 tries including an elite 48-12-2 ATS provided they take the field off a conference battle. With those two parameters live and our host locked into a payback mode, this CUSA angle zips to a tremendous 24-4-1 ATS. Coach Longo and his squad fit at three parts of that money-making equation perfectly.
This isn't the best wagering situation for WKU either. For starters, when priced as a single-digit road favorite, the Hilltoppers have been a poor investment posting a rough 5-12 ATS record in their last 17 tries. In this situation battling a foe that arrives off a conference game, this angle falls to a weak 2-10 ATS. Additionally, since October 28th, 2025, Conference USA road teams own a feeble 13-24 SU and 10-26-1 ATS record in conference play including a poor 8-18 SU and 5-20-1 ATS provided they slide in off the comforts of a home game. With those two parameters live and our "play against" guest holding a team won/loss percentage less than .500, this fast-developing situation crashes to a horrible 1-11 SU and ATS. That's going to be an issue for Western Kentucky.
Ranked 1st in the CUSA in passing offense averaging 274.0 yards per game, the Kats will lean on their "Air Raid" attack to help them pull off this minor upset. Take Sam Houston. Thanks, and best of luck, Tom.
