Western Kentucky is coming into this game with a 2-4 record this season and they are 1-1 in their conference. They struggled to start the season with 3 straight losses, but they were also on the road in all 3 games, playing against Georgia, Indiana, and Nevada. Now they have been much better with 2 wins in their last 3 games and they are coming off of a 34-13 win at home against Missouri State. Their offense has been much better with 34+ points scored in 2 of their last 3 games and their defense has also been much better as they have allowed 14 points or less in 2 of their last 3 games. They are going up against a Sam Houston State team that is 1-4 this season and they are 0-1 in their conference. They have not had nearly as tough a schedule to start the season, yet they have still lost 4 games with only 1 loss coming against a power 4 opponent. They are coming off of a 35-3 loss on the road against Liberty and their offense has been awful as they have not scored more than 17 points in their last 3 games against FBS opponents. Their defense has not been great either and has been much worse in their last 2 games. Western Kentucky has a very good offense and they have actually been running the ball well this season. They rushed for over 200 yards against Missouri State and Sam Houston has not been good against the run this year, averaging over 200 rushing yards allowed per game. They are going to match up very well here and even though Western Kentucky has also been awful against the run, Sam Houston State does not have a good run game and will struggle against this WKU pass defense that has not been bad.
