- Analysis
- Kyle Bradish is just 2-6 in decisions, but he has a 3.86 ERA and a 9.4 K/9. Bradish was among the better American League starters in 2023 before injuries derailed the past two seasons, but his career strikeout rate has been excellent and he is a decent groundball generator as well. Bradish has a 2.86 ERA in nearly 35 innings of work at home this season and he has a 2.22 ERA over his past four starts despite only picking up one win. The Orioles are 6-4 in the past 10 games and 18-15 at home this season. The bullpen has been a weak spot overall this season for Baltimore, but the unit has a capable 3.95 ERA in the past five games. Toronto has won two of three in this four-game division series as the teams have traded comeback wins the past two days. The Blue Jays had to use six pitchers yesterday as the Orioles should be in a better position on the mound Sunday as they try to even the series. Rookie Spencer Miles has a 2.16 ERA for the Blue Jays, but he has only made one start and has never cleared five innings in an outing in his career as the Toronto bullpen will have a lot of outs to get Sunday. Miles has a low BABIP in a very small sample size to start his career and in his only starting effort he pitched just three innings. Over the past five games Baltimore is batting .295 with 6.8 runs per nine vs. right-handed pitching and the Orioles are 21-19 vs. right-handed starters this season while 18-15 at home. Toronto is only 12-17 on the road this season despite two wins in this series and in 15 of the past 23 games Baltimore pitching has allowed four or fewer runs. Toronto is 8-3 in the past 11 games to rise to a game below .500 on the season but the Blue Jays have been held to two or fewer runs six times in that stretch as the offense continues to fall short of expectations following last year’s World Series run.
