Sunday Night Baseball Total of the Month. My selection is on the 'over' between Chicago and St. Louis at 7:20 pm et on Sunday. I think the potential is there to see a lot of runs in Sunday night's showdown between the rival Cubs and Cardinals. Jordan Wicks will get another spot start for Chicago. I could maybe see getting behind the Cubs in this matchup if they were going to use Wicks in an 'opener' role but that isn't likely to be the case after he worked into the fifth inning despite allowing eight earned runs in his first spot start of the campaign against Pittsburgh. Wicks has made just 27 big league appearances across four big league seasons and the results haven't been pretty as he has logged a 4.81 FIP and 1.55 WHIP. The Cards will send a lefty to the mound as well in Matthew Liberatore. He's the very definition of a 'back-of-the-rotation' starter at this point of his career and has posted a 4.65 FIP and 1.57 WHIP through 11 outings this season. The Cubs have been rounding into form offensively recently and have liked what they've seen from Liberatore, going a collective 15-for-55 (.273) but with a healthy .848 OPS (seven extra base hits including two home runs). The bullpens in this matchup are serviceable but certainly not lights out. Chicago's 'pen has posted a 4.15 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with just four saves converted and three blown on the road this season. St. Louis' relief corps owns a 4.33 ERA and 1.42 WHIP with eight saves converted and four blown at home. Take the over (10*).
