The Guardians are on a run in which 5 of their last 6 games have all totaled more than 10 runs. It will be warm with a south wind in St Louis this afternoon and the ball should carry well in this one. The Cardinals have allowed 7.5 runs per game in their last 4 home games and each of the last 3 games totaled more than 10 runs. Both these bullpens have struggled this season with the Guardians pen having a 4.83 ERA and the Cards pen having a 5.27 ERA thus far. As for the starting pitchers here, Dustin May was 7-11 with a 4.96 ERA last season and he is 1-2 with a 9.45 ERA this season. The St Louis right-hander is off of a good outing but got blasted in his first two outings so don't be surprised when the Guardians continue their hitting surge against him. Like May, Cecconi has struggled in 2 of his 3 starts this season and the concern for him here is that both of his road starts were the bad outings and now he is on the road again. Look for more of the same for Cecconi here as the Cardinals build off yesterday's 6-5 win in which they rallied for a run in the 9th and then won it with a run in the 10th.
