After pounding Prairie View A&M by the final of 38-17 at home last Saturday, Rice will travel to Jerry Richardson Stadium and pick up a little sweet revenge in its conference opener. Last year, the Owls (-4’) hosted the 49ers and dropped a 21-20 decision as Charlotte drove 77 yards in 58 seconds to score the go-ahead touchdown with 47 ticks left on the clock.
Technically speaking, this is a rock-solid spot for the visitors. In a payback mode fighting a conference foe, head coach Scott Abell and his boys have been worth the financial risk posting a proud 104-72-5 ATS record. In this run tackling an opponent that owns a team won/loss percentage less than .500, Rice improves to a strong 46-20-1 ATS including an elite 15-3-1 ATS provided its opponent arrives off a non-conference game. Finally, when priced as a favorite or an underdog of +20 or less and now facing a winning team, Charlotte carries a timid 6-20 SU and 9-17 ATS tally in its last 26 tries.
