Analysis: My selection is on Rice minus the points over Charlotte at 7:30 pm et on Thursday. The fact that the 49ers still won by 'only' seven points against an FCS opponent was concerning and it marked just their first victory of the season following consecutive lopsided defeats against Appalachian State and North Carolina. Rice knows its identity as it has employed a run-heavy approach in starting the campaign 2-1. The Owls lone defeat came against a good Houston team so there's really no reason to knock them entering this winnable road game. Note that Rice has committed only two turnovers through three games while Charlotte has coughed the football up a whopping seven times already. Take Rice (8*).
