Analysis: This is a play on the RICE OWLS for our CFB Thursday Star Attraction Winner. Rice opened the season with a win at Louisiana which looked like a good win at the time until Louisiana got decimated at Missouri last week but the Owls are doing the right thing with the transformation into their option offense. It did not look good against Houston two weeks ago as they were limited to 177 yards on 53 carries but a good scheduling game against Prairie View last week got them going with 347 yards on 60 carries and while it was against a FCS team, getting those wrinkles out is huge and they do not have a huge test here. Charlotte lost its opener against Appalachian St. and then lost to North Carolina with an offense that scored 14 points combined and now faces a whole new dynamic. The 49ers are coming off their first win over Monmouth of the FCS and it came by just a touchdown in a game that was a possession game the whole way and Charlotte scored the game winner with 1:30 left. Here, we play against teams outscored by opponents by 10 or more ppg, after scoring 37 points or more last game.
